Feeders Stage

This optional stage is used to create or edit feeders. Feeders are jobs or job groups that ”feed” into a given job group, and help us determine the percentage of minorities or women among those promotable, transferable, and trainable within the organization.  Feeders must be provided for job groups identified as having internal recruitment percentages.

Creating and Assigning Feeders

Assign From Promotions - This option will use the imported promotions file to automatically apply feeders based on promotions data supplied.  Several years of promotional data can be supplied if desired.  This option replaces any existing feeder information.  Complete the following steps to assign feeders from promotions:

  1. Click the Assign from Promotions button (  ) in the toolbar.
  2. Select whether to use job groups or job titles as feeders under Select Feeder Type.
  3. Enter the desired date range in the Select Feeders Begin/End Date fields.  These dates can be the same as your transaction dates, or span several years if the data is available in the imported promotions file.
  4. Select the desired Option for Assigning Weights.
    1. Automatic Assignment of Weights: This option will assign weights to each feeder based on the number of people in each feeder (e.g., if there are two feeders assigned, and one has a total of 20 people and the other has a total of 5 people, the first will receive 80% weight and the second will receive 20% weight).
    2. Even Assignment of Weights: This option will split the total 100% weight evenly among the feeders (e.g., if there are two feeders, each will be assigned 50% weight).
    3. Do Not Assign Weights: This option will not automatically assign weights to the assigned feeders.  You must assign the weights manually if you select this option.
  5. Click Assign Feeders.

Apply To/Apply From - These options will allow you to assign feeders that are already set up in another plan (either in this data container or a previous year) to the job groups in this plan, or vice versa.  Only exact matches will be applied, so if a job group is not spelled exactly the same in both plans, the feeders will not transfer.  These options replace any existing feeder information.

Complete the following steps to apply feeders from another plan:

  1. Click the Apply From button (  ) in the toolbar.
  2. Select the plan from which you would like to apply feeders.
  3. Use the Redistribute weights from missing feeders checkbox if you want myAAP to automatically redistribute feeder weights if the current plan is missing any feeders that exist in the other plan.  Otherwise, you can manually adjust the weights after feeders have been assigned.
  4. Choose how you would like myAAP to copy the feeders:
    1. Use original feeder source plans will copy over the original source plan names for each feeder job or job group exactly as set.
    2. Convert feeder source plans will convert the source plan for each feeder job or job group to the current plan.  If multiple feeders have the same job code/job group code with different source plans, they will be merged into one entry with combined weights.
  5. Click Ok.

Assign Feeders Manually - This option will allow you to select job groups (or job titles) individually to be assigned as feeders to the target job group.  This option can be used by itself, or to complete or change information brought in using Assign from Promotions or Apply To/Apply From.  Be sure to do any manual assignments after using the other options, as those will replace any data entered manually.  Complete the following steps to assign feeders manually:

  1. Drag and drop the desired job group(s) or job title(s) from the section on the right of the screen to the appropriate job group on in the center of the screen.
  2. TIP: Select the icon next to each job group in the right side of the screen to display all job titles within each screen.  This will allow you to assign individual job titles as feeders.  If you wish to use job groups or job titles from other plans as feeders, uncheck the Current plan only box.

  3. Once all feeders have been added to the desired job groups, enter weights for each feeder listed.  Total weights for all feeders for each job group must equal 100.00%.
